Scene 1: A group of unusually good looking (not unusual that they’re good looking, but unusual that there is an extremely high number of good looking in the group, minus the one sort of ugly looking, but funny guy that the audience will grow to love and will die near the end) mid-twenty somethings are at a party. Scene 1 starts off with numerous quick camera cuts in the party, going from conversation to conversation. This is to establish the main characters. In one or multiple conversations it becomes clear that one of the guys (Bret: attractive, smart, but not very athletic, he will be the hero) is in love with another guy’s (Jake, attractive, sort of smart, really athletic, kind of an asshole, he will die) GF (Jenna, hot, smart, sensitive, has a troubled past and as a result has insecurities, which is why she is with Jake).
Scene 2: Bret and Jenna are engaged in conversation when Jake enters the room. Jake comes over to them and starts to be a little mean to Bret. Jenna tells him to stop and suggests they get a drink. Bret is left. Bret’s BF Rory comes over (sort of ugly looking, but funny guy the audience will grow to love and will die near the end) and tells him to forget about Jenna b/c she’s with Jake and Jake’s an ass. Rory then starts talking about Carla (hot, not as hot as Jenna, slightly weird, and single girl). Bret tries to be supportive, telling Rory he should go for Carla, but is obviously distracted by the whole Jenna thing.
Scene 3: Just as Bret is mustering the courage to tell Jenna how he feels there is a loud noise and a crash (a.k.a., the aliens have landed and will soon start invading/terrorizing).The party is forced to evacuate to the streets.
Scenes 4-6: In the streets there is confusion. Off in the distance, our group (Bret, Jake, Jenna, Carla and Rory) see a crowd starting to form. The group heads there. The conversation focuses on what the crowd could be looking at. They get to the crowd and see what everyone is looking at: a partially submerged futuristic looking vessel. What is it? A downed military vehicle says Bret, looking at Jenna for approval? An alien spacecraft says weird Carla? A weather balloon offers comic-relief Rory? The questioning goes on until BLAM, a crazy, huge, human eating monster alien comes out and starts killing everyone. OMG. Death. Blood. Carnage. MAYHEM!!!!! The group runs.
Scenes 7 through 16: Alien carnage all around, the group runs from one place to another, trying to survive. Lots of adrenaline filled scenes. AHHH!
Scene 17: Enter the military. Colonel Adams is called in. He is BADASS, but he is not by the book, which worries the President and other top officials. But, they realize he is “the best” and is the only man for the job. Adams comes in, sets up a perimeter and starts broadcasting over wire that civilians need to get to the edges of the city to be evaced (that is military shorthand for evacuated in case you didn’t know).
Scenes 18 through 42: The group is still on the run. There is still alien craziness. But now, there is tension between members of the group. Bret has heard Adams broadcast and wants the group to get to one of the evac sites. Jake, disagrees. He believes they need to get outside the city so they can go to his parents summer home in the Hamptons (oh yeah, this takes place in NYC of course) where they have a bomb shelter with never ending supply of water, etc. No says Bret, Yes says Jake. They fight. The group splits up. Jenna goes with Jake. Carla and Rory go with Bret. Oh shit! What now.
Scene 43: Military is now trying various tactics on the aliens to destroy them and reclaim the city. But none of them work. Damn those futuristic, impenetrable exoskeletons! They’ll get you every time. What to do, what to do? President gets a solemn call from Adams. “Mr. President, the aliens have claimed NYC, the only option at this point to prevent their further spread is to nuke the city.” “My God,” says the President. “Is there no other option?” “I’m afraid not,” says Adams. “May God have mercy on all of our souls,” says the President. The decision has been made. The countdown begins. Adams makes preparations to nuke the city, and begins to send out a signal over the wire urging every civilian to get to an evac site. In addition, he alerts civilians in the Hamptons that they must evac b/c the winds will bring the immediate fallout there and everyone will surely die. OH NO!!! What about Jenna and Jake!!???
Scene 44: Carla, Bret and Rory are almost at an evac site when Bret gets the news. The Hamptons will get fallout. Oh, no! “I have to turn back and save Jenna!” “Not without us you don’t,” says Carla and Rory. The three turn back to find Jenna and Jake.
Scene 45: Jenna and Jake are on their way to the Hamptons. They get into a fight. Jake is very insensitive and Jenna gets upset. As they are fighting, they become unaware of their surroundings and find themselves all of a sudden in a street swarming with aliens. They run into a building and are chased by the aliens. They are stuck, no escape. They freak out and don’t know what to do other than hide.
Scenes 46 through 62: More solemn faced scenes with Adams and his military men. Perhaps the men who disagree with his decision to nuke the city try to stage a coup. Perhaps not. Bret, Carla and Rory continue to try to find Jenna/Jake. There is a montage somewhere in there.
Scene 63: As they are getting close to finding Jake/Jenna, Carla is killed by an alien. Rory is very upset. Bret starts to shine as the hero/leader and urges Rory on. They leave Carla’s body. Rory cries.
Scenes 64-69: Ok there was in fact a coup. Now Adams is locked up. They’re trying to prevent the nuke strike, but don’t understand. If the aliens get beyond the perimeter, all hope will be lost. They have to make a stand and it has to happen soon. Adams convinces a young Private (Foster) to help him get back in control, even though Private Foster risks being court martialed if he did.
Scene 70: Bret and Rory find Jenna and Jake. I forgot to mention at the beginning, but Bret, being the smart one, ripped the GPS tracker from his car and gave it to Jenna so he could track her. Of course, at some point right before they get to the building, the batteries die. Luckily he see her jacket, torn, lying outside of the entrance and makes an educated guess as to where she is. Bret and Rory sneak into the building.
Scenes 71-79: There is an epic battle/escape scene. Jake ends up risking his life to save Jenna and Bret and Jake make piece. Jenna escapes with Rory and Bret. They rush to the closes evac point. Hopefully they can make it! It’s getting close. Oh God! They get to the nearest evac point. Just in time. What’s that? The strike has been called off and all evac personnel have been grounded and ordered to fight the aliens. What to do now?
Scene 80: In a surprising twist of fate Private Foster is able to get Adams back in control and the strike is called back on. He orders evac personnel to return to their posts. Just in time! Of course, Private Foster dies while trying to get Adams back into power. He’s shot. Adams is sad, but it does not stop him from doing his job.
Scene 81: OK, back in the city. Jenna, Bret and Rory think that their done. Bret finally tells Jenna how he feels. She validates his feeling. How shitty this is for them b/c now they’re gonna die. But wait, evac personnel tell them to get in the chopper. They’re heading out. Yay. All is good. Oh no, an alien, comes out of no where and kills Rory. There’s no time to save him. The chopper pulls out.
Scene 82: Adams solemnly, as always, orders the nuke to be dropped.
Scene 83: Explosion!
Scene 84: Bret cradles Jenna in the chopper. The two are dirty and bloody. They do not speak, but watch silently as the nuke goes off in the background.
Scene 85: The End. There is also some bullshit text about this event, how many people died and the state of NYC now.
